19-05-2013: Anne-Marie de Brouwer has been appointed a Knight in the Order of Oranje Nassau.
Dr. Anne-Marie de Brouwer was rewarded for making a difference, both professionally and privately. Since her PhD in 2005 – published by Intersentia – she is regarded as a leading international expert in the field of victims of sexual violence in war. She is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences, advises the United Nations as well as national and international foundations working on this theme and supervises many young researchers. On Friday, April 26th, she received the award from Mayor Peter van der Velden of Breda.
Anne-Marie de Brouwer is author of:
- Sexual Violence as an International Crime: Interdisciplinary Approaches,
- Victimological Approaches to International Crimes: Africa, and
- Supranational Criminal Prosecution of Sexual Violence.
15-05-2013: Robert W. Woodruff Professor of Law Martha A. Fineman will receive an honorary juris doctor degree from Sweden’s University of Lund, in recognition of exemplary work in the study of feminist and family law.
The degree will be presented at the university’s May 31 doctoral promotion ceremony.
"Fineman's work during her long scholarship has been of great importance for jurisprudence at the international level, particularly in feminist legal theory. Within this discipline, she is world renowned," according to the law faculty’s statement in support of the award.

17-01-2013: EJSS Best Paper Prize
The Foundation for International Studies on Social Security (FISS), together with the European Journal of Social Security (EJSS) and Intersentia awarded the 2012 EJSS Best Paper Prize to
- W. Van Lancker for the paper Is a child-centred investment strategy bound to fail? Evidence for the EU 27 and
- D. de Vaus, M. Gray, L. Qu and D. Stanton The economic of divorce and implications for the Australian social protection system.
Both papers willl be published in the 2013 volume of EJSS.
